Canadian Armed Forces to patrol skies over Romania

The Canadian Armed Forces is sending about 135 personnel, and four Royal Canadian Air Force, CF-188 Hornets to Romania, to participate in NATO enhanced Air Policing from September to December 2017.

Flight Sergeant Mehew “Zip” Zobell, from Raymond, Alberta, and a member of 401 Squadron, returned from Dieppe with a wound in his forehead and his Spitfire damaged by enemy fire.

Remembering the “Buffalo Nine”

On August 9, 1974, nine Canadian peackeepers were killed when their Buffalo aircraft was shot down over Syria. Today, August 9 is commemorated as National Peacekeepers’ Day.
