Chief Warrant Officer Martin Rousseau, CD
Born on June 1st 1971 and raised in Montréal, Québec, in a household of four, Martin is the eldest of two boys. His father had a long career as a Police Officer and his mother divided her time between the culinary service industry and the upbringing of two active boys.
Martin was involved at an early age with the Jr. Scouts, played hockey, baseball and enjoyed three years with the sea cadets which led, in 1987, to joining the Canadian Armed Forces at age 15 with the primary reserve as an infantryman. In 1989 he obtained a component transfer and occupation transfer to 00149 (formally 651) firefighter occupation.
Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Rousseau served the three elements of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in various capacities and locations which included, Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Valcartier, CFB Summerside, 3 Wing Bagotville (twice), Her Majesty Canadian Ship (HMCS) Montreal, Formation Augmentation Fleet Atlantic (Snr Fftr), Naval Damage Control School (Atlantic) Fire Cell (Snr Fire Instructor), 14 Wing Greenwood, Canadian Forces Fire Marshal (Expeditionary Ops Coordinator), CFB Shearwater (Fire Chief), National Defence Fire Service Firefighter Senior Occupation Advisor & Canadian Forces Fire Marshal’s CWO, Commandant of the RCAF Academy at 16 Wing Borden.
His operational tours of duty included support to the 3 Wing MSE with deployment in Buffalo N.Y., STANFORLANT NATO fleet (Onboard HMCS Montréal), various naval missions, Op Athena as the Canadian Contingent Task Force Fire Marshal in Afghanistan, several operational taskings to the UAE, Afghanistan, Germany, Kuwait and Israel.
He is also a former member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Military Engineer Association, a former member of the Board of Directors with the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation, for which he is still an associate member and Ambassador.
Employed in rewarding positions in the National Defence Fire Service, Canadian Military Engineers, Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Air Force, CWO Rousseau is currently the Wing CWO at 2 Wing Bagotville, Qué.
