Chief Warrant Officer Geoff Rusconi, CD

Born in North Bay, Ontario, CWO Geoff Rusconi enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in April 1997 with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). Following his graduation from Battle School in Wainwright, AB, he was posted to 1 PPCLI in Edmonton, AB.

He had two domestic deployments with 1 PPCLI on Op GRIZZLY and Op RECUPERATION, and one overseas deployment in Bosnia on Op PALLADIUM. While in Bosnia in 2003, he was accepted for a voluntary occupational transfer to Meteorological Technician (Met Tech).

Since becoming a Met Tech, he has worked in a variety of positions and environments providing meteorological support to the RCAF and Canadian Army. His first assignment as a Met Tech was as a Weather Observer at 4 Wing Cold Lake, AB, then as Observer Supervisor after being promoted to Master Corporal in 2005. In 2006 he was posted to Shilo, MB as the Ballistic Meteorological Section sScond in Command (2IC). During that assignment, he completed his QL5B and QL6A courses in Winnipeg, MB, and an eight month tour to Afghanistan on Op ATHENA, where he provided ballistic meteorological support to the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and the United States Army.

Upon return from tour in 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and posted to the Canadian Forces School of Meteorology (CFS MET) as an instructor, specializing in teaching meteorological theory. While at CFS MET, he completed his QL6B Forecaster course and was subsequently promoted to Warrant Officer in 2011.

In 2011, he was posted to the 5 Canadian Division Support Base Language School to attend the year-long Second Language Training (SLT) course in Gagetown, NB. Immediately following SLT, he was posted to the Joint Meteorological Centre (JMC) in Gagetown as the Expeditionary Warrant Officer, responsible for Force Generation for all domestic and deployed operations. He remained in that position until he was promoted to Master Warrant Officer and employed as the JMC Operations MWO from 2014 to 2016.

In 2016, he was honoured to be selected and posted to the United States Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy (USAF SNCOA) as the Canadian Liaison and Instructor at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Alabama. He was responsible for delivering the Advanced Leadership Experience curriculum and acted as an advisor to the Commandant. In July 2019, while at the USAF SNCOA, he was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer and was posted to back to the JMC as the Unit Chief Warrant Officer.

In 2021, CWO Rusconi was privileged to be selected for a senior appointment and posted to his current position in Borden, ON as the 16 Wing Chief Warrant Officer.
